Opportunities

ARCADIA is dedicated to the equitable training and development of youth and early career researchers, striving to provide training experiences that are both valuable to the project work and careers of our volunteers. There are several ways to work with us, including:

  • Our lab occasionally seeks short-term volunteers to contribute to defined projects as needs arise. When opportunities are available, a call for volunteers will be posted outlining the scope of work and potential outputs. Volunteers will need to submit an application and, if accepted, will commit to an approximately four-month term. While suggested outputs will be provided in the call, we encourage volunteers to propose outputs that align with their interests and expertise.

    Please note:

    • At this time we only accept volunteers who are at least 18 years old

    • Remote applicants will be considered, but local (NYC) will be preferred.

    • While we typically accept volunteers for specific calls, if there is a particular project you're interested in working on, you are welcome to submit the form in the call below and respond to the application in reference to your proposal!

    Compensation & Funding

    Whenever possible, we prioritize paid opportunities for contributors. In cases where lab resources do not allow for paid work, we highly encourage volunteers to explore external funding options, such as:

    You can view details of open calls for volunteers by scrolling below!

  • Internships are offered through NYU’s Department of Applied Psychology, where a key component of the undergraduate program is fieldwork.

    While you are welcome to submit your application at any point in the semester, will only begin reviewing materials/reaching out with decisions as outlined below. If you don't hear back from us immediately, do not stress - we will be in touch closer to the interviewing window!

    • Spring 2026: Applications due Jan 15th → Interviews between Jan 19th-23rd → Decisions by Jan 30th

    • Fall 2026: Applications due July 1st → Interviews between July 6th-10th → Decisions by July 15th

    An Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA) will work with a faculty member, lab or research center. A student hired for this position might:

    • Conduct parts of a literature review, searching for previously published studies of interest to the current project;

    • Collaborate on sharing the research findings by supporting the writing of articles, presentations, social media posts, etc.

    You can apply here

    Please note: this application is for us to evaluate applicants and make recommendations to the Provost's Office. If selected, we will then invite you to apply to the Office with our recommendation via Handshake.

  • Listings for paid work will be shared via our website, social media and other networks, dependent on availability and funding.
